Former Blizzard VP Chris Metzen apologizes after Activision Blizzard lawsuit

Former Senior Vice President of Story and Franchise Development for Blizzard Entertainment Chris Metzen released a statement on Twitter, reacting to the lawsuit filed against the company.

Metzen left the company in 2016, but a lot of the allegations in the lawsuit go back to the time when he was still with the company.

“We failed, and I’m sorry”, he begins his statement. “There is no excuse. We failed too many people when they needed us . I wish my apology could make any kind of difference. It can’t.”

He continued: “Friends and colleagues, people I have valued and admired for years, were directly harmed because I was not present enough to ask, to listen, to hear these stories when it mattered.”

Going public with his statement, he has received a lot of negative comments that his apology comes too late and does too little.

Also apologizing on Friday was former Blizzard CEO Mike Morhaime. He apologized for facilitating the treatment and harassment of women when he was in charge.

He wrote: “I realize that these are just words, but I wanted to acknowledge the women who had awful experiences. I hear you, I believe you, and I am so sorry to have let you down. I want to hear your stories if you are willing to share them.”

The State of California has conducted a two-year investigation before filing the gender discrimination lawsuit against Activision Blizzard. With the lawsuit being filed, a lot of women stepped forward to tell their stories. Stories that read like a horror novel, but unfortunately comes from real-life experiences.
