Can Vitality break into the top 4 of the LEC? Fnatic win their grudge match against G2

Team Vitality ended their week with victories over both G2 and MAD Lions. Could we be seeing the rise of a new LEC threat?

Week three of the LEC ended as former champions fell. The reigning LEC champions, MAD Lions, fell against Vitality to cap off their perfect week. The perennial champions of seasons past, G2, lost against their once arch-nemeses in Fnatic. With the first round robin coming to a close in the near future, could we see the top teams in Europe start to solidify?

Vitality escape week 3 undefeated

Team Vitality had a difficult task ahead of them at the start of this week. Facing off against both G2 and MAD Lions, many expected the team to continue their downward spiral. Quite the contrast, Vitality escaped undefeated and put themselves in the three-way tie for third with the very teams they defeated.

Vitality’s bottom lane duo played a massive role in their win today against MAD Lions. Jus “Crownshot” Marusic ended the 35-minute victory with a perfect KDA, 7 kills, and an impressive 602 DPM. Cemented in the top half of the LEC with a 2 win margin, Vitality have shown that they are capable of competing with the upper elechon of teams.

Fnatic convincingly defeat G2

The iconic matchup between Fnatic and G2 landed in Fnatic’s favor this time around. This classic clash had an all too familiar aggressive start. By 15-minutes, G2 held a 3 kill lead as well as a neutral objective and significant gold advantage. A single winning team fight, largely propelled by Adam “Adam” Maanane turned the game in Fnatic’s favor.

Fnatic could not be slowed down after this uncontested ace, quickly closing the gold deficit. Zdravets “Hylissang” Galabov’s Taric pick largely secured Fnatic’s late game team fights by providing invaluable shielding. Fnatic were able to destroy G2’s nexus in 27-minutes. While certainly happy to defeat their longtime rivals, Fnatic can also celebrate tying up in second place alongside Rogue.
