Can TSM make another title run? – Immortals cap off a perfect week

The most historically successful organization in the LCS could be in position to make another title run.

TSM have had a tumultuous last few spilts. After their latest first place finish, TSM had one of the worst performances at Worlds in recent memory. Following that, TSM finished a disappointing third place in Spring 2021 after overhauling their roster. Today, TSM defeated the reigning champions and could be poised for another run at the LCS trophy. Meanwhile, Immortals completed another 3-0 week after taking down Dignitas, Evil Geniuses, and 100 Thieves.

What can we expect from TSM?

Cloud9 had an ideal start to their matchup against 100 Thieves. Jesper “Zven” Svenningsen accrued a significant lead and propelled Cloud9’s lead for the first 30-minutes of the game. Cloud9 lost their lead after a failed TP play to get into TSM’s base while the main squad were focused on the Elder Dragon. This was largely TSM’s catalyst to get back into the game.

Heo “Huni” Seung-hoon had a massive game on Jayce, dealing 44K damage and playing an influential role in team fights. While both teams showed several mistakes throughout the game, TSM walked away with the win.

Are Immortals a post-season threat?

Immortals have flown under the radar for most of the season, but have consistently taken down ‘top’ teams. Most of the early to mid game was played on a knife’s edge, though Immortals ballooned their lead. David “Insanity” Challe had another impressive game on Lucien, providing most of his team’s damage.

Immortals have shown that they are completely capable of competing at the top, though their consistency has waned. If Immortals can keep up this performance when it matters most, in the postseason, they could be a dark horse.
