Call of Duty professional “Fero” passes away at age 21

Tragic news coming out from the Call of Duty esports community, as the family of Maurice “Fero” Henriquez confirm his death. Fero was a well known and loved figure in the Call of Duty community and played for teams such as Team Kaliber, 100 Thieves and the Florida Mutineers.

When the news of Fero’s death first broke reports said it was a suicide, but a family member – and later the Florida Mutineers themselves – came out to say that wasn’t the case. According to them Fero passed away due to ‘multiple heart attacks’. One of Fero’s close friends, Rasim “Blazt” Oresevic, has disputed this claim on Twitter.

The Call of Duty community reacted to his death on Twitter, with some big figures such as Seth “ Scump” Abner, Matt “Nadeshot” Haag and Nick “NICKMERCS” Kolcheff paying tribute. The official Twitter account of the Call of Duty League also reported on the news and payed their respects to the family of Fero.

Fero first came onto the scene back in 2017 when he won the CWL Pro League stage two playoffs and CWL Championship (2018) with Team Kaliber. He would go on to play for 100 Thieves and Envy with Black Ops 4. Despite not being able to land a CDL team right away, he was later picked up by the Florida Mutineers to compete in the Call of Duty League after competing in the Challengers Amateur Circuit. He would eventually end up with a top 8 season finish during his time with the Florida Mutineers.
