Call of Duty Mobile to get new esports competition in 2021

Call of Duty Mobile players have more to look forward to as Activision announced their esports competition for 2021 with a video.

When it comes to the esports scene for Call of Duty Mobile, things have not been easy for the game. As Call of Duty Mobile released back in 2019 a global esports competition was set to happen in 2020 but the World Championship itself wasn’t able to fully play out due to COVID-19. For quite a long time it was unclear how the esports scene for the game would evolve as opportunities for events were quite limited, despite the fact a lot of matches could be played online.

Now Activision have released a video teasing their upcoming 2021 Call of Duty Mobile global esports competition, saying their calling up “competitors from all around the globe” and releasing the hashtag #WeAreCODM. Exact details for the competitions are currently unknown but it’s expected that they’ll mostly follow the structure used in 2020, which made use of qualifiers and regional playoff, with the best teams of the region set to make their way to the World Championship Finals.

Call of Duty Mobile remains one of the most popular shooter games on mobile, achieving over 300 million downloads back in october and still having an active player base. A continuation of the esports scene for the game looks like a logical move.
