Call of Duty League community hints at a return to LAN

Fully remote since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Call of Duty League could see a return to LAN by the end of the year.

The Call of Duty League, like many esports, have reamined remote for the large majority of late 2020 and the early parts of 2021, however that may change soon. Several teams and specific players have hinted that a return to LAN could be coming in the near future.

Atlanta FaZe released a video of the Call of Duty League random Tag Generator that brought a “BACK2LAN” tag as the result.

Simiarly, Chicago OpTic relased a short video on Twitter with the words “BACK TO LAN” over the backdrop of their roster. OpTic players such as Scump specifically have advocated for the return to in-person CDL matches in recent podcasts.

Multiple other players and teams alike have shown their enthusiasm for a return to LAN. Many other esports have either partially returned to LAN, such as the LEC & LCS who had partially in-person playoffs while the LPL has returned to regular operations all together.

However just because the CDL community at large has hyped this return to LAN does not mean it has been officially confirmed yet. CDL caster Joe “MerK” De Luca stated that though he is also in support for player’s returning to the arena, he has yet to hear off this news.

Fresh off the second Major of 2021, it still may be a while before CDL games are hosted in the studio and even longer before fans are re-incorperated into the mix. However now watching the CDL in person in 2021 is no longer a pipe dream.
