Call of Duty Vanguard has added plenty of new features to the long running FPS franchise. Post match MVP voting, a new game mode (Patrol), and further customization options have all come along with Vanguard. Though Vanguard has been met with generally positive acclaim and brought a breath of fresh air to the series, fans still want one more thing.
CoD fans have asked for a return of Call of Duty WWII’s War Game mode. This iconic mode was an objective-based game type featuring heavy attack and defense mechanics. This was a highly popular game mode for WWII though has not been implemented in any other Call of Duty game ever since.
Multiple Reddit threads on the Call of Duty subreddit have called for the re-institution of the game mode. The game franchise has regularly returned to the World War II setting multiple times, and fans see this as a potential opportunity to bring back the beloved game mode.
Though fans of the series have expressed their desire and excitement for the potential return of the game mode in this latest addition to the CoD franchise, Sledgehammer has yet to respond to this call. A large chunk of the CoD player base has backed this sentiment, and with more updates and events to come in Call of Duty Vanguard, we could see the game mode come back to CoD in some form.
