Bwipo rumored to leave Fnatic after disappointing Worlds run

Nobody will deny that the Worlds 2021 run of Fnatic was a big disappointment. The last-minute departure of Upset, the dramatic 0-3 start and the drama around Bwipo which came to a climactic conclusion with his Twitlonger after the tournament. Obviously the rumors about the jungler leaving Fnatic won’t strike anyone as a surprise.

According to sources, Gabriel “Bwipo” Rau is exploring his options and is even willing to roleswap (again) to find a new team. The current contract of the 22-year old is expiring at November 15 and he seems to have no interest in extending this. Although Bwipo didn’t confirm or announce anything, the rumors seem very likely considering the circumstances.

Emotional Twitlonger

During Worlds 2021 Bwipo was the center of attention when he decided to unfollow Fnatic and staff members on Twitter. He declared he just needed a break from social media, but his behaviour was quite ordinary and his girlfriend Lena obviously was also involved in the situation. Later on, when Worlds concluded, Bwipo published a Twitlonger where he explained the situation. He mainly acted on emotions, since he was having issues in his relationship. Upset leaving right before Worlds started just put fuel to the fire and caused Bwipo to break down completely.

Bwipo already earlier announced he would decide about his contract at Fnatic after Worlds 2021. Since the run was fairly disappointing, with Fnatic getting eliminated in the Group Stage, we can safely assume the jungler will be leaving the organization, which means Fnatic is in need of a new jungler next year.
