Blizzcon cancelled

Almost two months after Blizzard issued a first note concerning the viability of Blizzcon 2020 the developer now officially cancelled their yearly convention.

With security and health concerns in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic paramount Blizzard has come to “the very difficult decision to not have BlizzCon this year”. BlizzCon has historically been the place for Blizzard to announce new games and celebrate the different franchises across the community.

Online replacement event scheduled

Although fans will be unable to gather physically this year the developer is planning an online event as replacement. Going online will also be the way forward for several of Blizzard’s esports events that traditionally held their finals during the convention. Scheduled for early next year fans will have to be patient as Blizzard works on transitioning their event online.

We will of course keep you updated as soon as Blizzard shares further details.
