The CS:GO controversy regarding voice comms following a statement by the CSPPA (Counter-Strike Professional Players’ Association) just got bigger as BLAST-partnered CS:GO teams have released a statement themselves saying that the issue was “already resolved by BLAST”.
In the statement, which was shared by Team Liquid, Complexity, G2 Esports, Natus Vincere, Astralis, Evil Geniuses, mousesports, FURIA, FaZe Clan, Team Vitality, BIG, OG and MIBR, the teams respond to the statement made by the CSPPA. “We fail to understand how and why CSPPA are involved in trying to raise concerns with an already resolved issue, without our knowledge or any form of previous communication.” According to them, BLAST resolved the voice comms issues on November 23rd.

Following the statement by the BLAST-partnered teams, the CSPPA has come under scrutiny with multiple prominent figures speaking out against them. Morrison “Video Game Attorney” Rothman shared the contract players had to sign to be part of the CSPPA, which consisted of signing over their IP and their names for multiple years. “This was never about helping players, it was about making money and winning personal feuds with owners.“

In an anonymous interview with HLTV, one of the team owners spoke out against CSPPA. “The true intentions behind the CSPPA are not rooted in the greater good. They want commercial profits for their own pockets and they make those happen through the opportunities they create by dismantling the functioning systems around them.”

Valve also came under fire for their lack of communication and involvement in their own esports scene. Esports journalist and consultant Rod “Slasher” Breslau highlighted the issue with Valve and called for more unity. “Instead of fruitless fighting amongst yourselves over F*cking voice comms, how about the players, coaches, team owners, leagues, casters, CSPPA, and ESIC unify together for a worthy cause in the future of CS esports — making Valve give a shit. because that’s what actually matters”.
