BIG on top of the CS:GO world

As we head into the player break for this year’s CS:GO-season a new number one has established themselves on the throne. With their recent victory at cs_summit 6 the German organisation BIG has secured the title best team in the world.

This marks a first not only for the German scene but also for the Turkish community as it is the first time one of their own is part of the number one team in the world.

Germany finally reaching its potential?

The German Counter-Strike scene has always been a fixture as a strong contender, but in Global Offensive the vast player base never translated into lasting international success. Although BIG had a monstrous run that brought them first to fame during ESL One Cologne 2018, their success had been short-lived.

The new BIG seems to have finally found the magic formula needed with the additions of Florian “syrsoN” Rische and Nils “k1to” Gruhne at the beginning of 2020. With back to back victories at DreamHack Masters Spring and cs_summit 6 they have taken the world of online CS:GO by storm and tower above the other teams right now.

Once the player break ends they will have to fight tooth and nail to defend their new throne. With just a tiny margin of three points Team Vitality is hot on their heels and will be looking to take the spot for themselves. Other teams in slumps like Astralis or mousesports will also be gunning for the top spot, and with their position on top BIG can no longer surprise teams as the underdog. It will be very interesting to see if BIG will be able to establish a new era or if the many challengers will strike back.

The current Top 10 of CS:GO:
