BIG. OMEN Academy’s glaVed and pr1metapz – From Minecraft to CS:GO

We started the interview with how they got hooked on the game. Surprisingly, both players didn’t switch from other shooter games, but found the origin of their career playing Minecraft. As there was some kind of trend in switching the game, most of their friends were starting with CS:GO. So they were kind of dragged into the game. Like glaVed explained:

I wasn’t instantly hooked. At First, my friends always had to force me to play CS:GO with them.

Connections and dedication got them to BIG Clan

What happens before you get the call from BIG team manager Christian Lenz to get an invitation to play for their academy roster? Both glaVed and pr1metapz mentioned that they were grinding a lot faceit and started playing serious competitive CS:GO. That made them a name in the German CS:GO scene and got them a lot of companions that would pave their way.

Their friendship with Christian “Lapex” Preuß was definitely one of the key points for joining the BIG Clan. They knew him from grinding and had played together on a team before. As pr1metapz explained to us:

I played with Lapex in 2 previous teams. Then he joined BIG. In the new season he built a new team. I was already a StandIn for ESEA Season there. Then I had the chance to join.

Together with Niklas “NIKZEj” Burmeister from the former BIG. OMEN Academy line-up, Lapex reconstructed the BIG. Omen Academy Team in July 2021 for the upcoming WePlay Tournament and convinced glaVedpr1metapz, and Nico “Acqua” Kembitzky to join him.

BIG. Omen shows teeth, unfortunately still loses in WePlay League playoffs

As already mentioned above, BIG. OMEN Academy was qualified but lost the finals of the WePlay League. With two 0:2 matches against mouz NXT and fnatic rising they only achieved to bring $8000 US-Dollars back home but gained a lot of experience.
Unlike other teams, their lineup is still very new, they explained. However, they have already proven themselves to be a solid team, winning against other well-rehearsed teams. Additionally, glaVed mentioned:

Glaved: For the team, the WePlay League has the highest value. The biggest teams play there and that’s why it has the full focus for us.

As we asked for the best team and the best player of the League they were both very much in agreement. The team which they have struggled with the most was Young Ninjas and the player with the most impact was 16 years old Ilya “m0NESY” Osipov.

For them, it was the biggest event they have ever played. No one has ever participated in such a professional tournament that was even broadcasted on HLTV, except glaVed.

A good mood and a healthy lifestyle is essential for winning games

As we spoke about how to motivate yourself to keep on grinding to become a pro player they told us that there are moments when you might buckle, but these can be remedied by stepping away from the computer for a moment and go for a walk.

Not aiming alone will win a game. You need to keep yourself both mentally and physically fit. To achieve that, you have to get a healthy sleep cycle and good nutrition. Also one of the key factors for winning is to have good team chemistry while playing and enjoying the game.

Career goals in the next 2 years

Both glaVed and pr1metapz are on the best way to play A-Tier Counter-Strike for international organizations, so we asked them where they see themselves in the next 2 years.

As pr1metapz said that he’s really working hard to make a living off CS:GO one day he added:

I would like to play in the BIG Clan main roster or, of course, another team would also be considered if the opportunity arises.

Even though glaVed would also like to play for BIG or a team that is determined towards getting to the top, he told us that he has an agreement with his father due to his CS:GO career:

glaVed: My father and I have agreed that I can try CS:GO for another 10 months. Otherwise, I will start with my studies.

Although this agreement seems very challenging, glaVed is very optimistic about the future. He said that he will see how far he can get in these months and will then decide if he continues to pursue a professional Counter-Strike career.

Thank you for the interview, guys! We wish you both much success on your way as we are already looking forward to seeing you in WePlay League Season 2.
