Asmongold, Pokimane, and Mizkif all respond to the Twitch leaks

Twitch’s data breach has been the largest information leak in the streaming site’s history. Information regarding the website’s source code was released along with viewer metrics and revenue of almost every active streamer on the platform.

Amidst the mass of data made public were the direct buyouts from Twitch. Many viewers shared around the ‘chart’ of streamers, ranked by their buyout. In wake of this massive event, streamers have begun to speak out.

Are the numbers even accurate?

Asmongold addressed the leak on stream shortly after the leak occurred. Many have debated the legitimacy of the supposed payout numbers listed. While various sources have ‘confirmed’ the accuracy of the numbers, Asmongold disagreed. The MMORPG veteran stated that his number on the list is inaccurate and dismissed the leaks.

It is important to not that the alleged ranking released from the leaks encapsulates only Twitch’s payout and subs, without taking donations and sponsors into account. Pokimane seemed to imply that her numbers were accurate, stating in a Tweet that “at least people can’t over-exaggerate me ‘making millions a month off my viewers’ anymore.”

Last year, Pokimane turned off the ability to donate to her channel and stated that she is at a point where sponsors and contracts can sustain her business. The fact that subs now are the lowest source of income accounts for her rather low placement on the list.

After taking a prolonged hiatus from streaming, Mizkif returned to the platform the very same day as the data breach and offered a glimmer of humor in the middle of the massive controversy.
