Animajor to be the next Dota 2 Major

WePlay Esports has announced that Animajor will be the next Dota 2 Major, with top teams battling it out for a $500.000 prize pool.

It’s certainly taken quite a while, but WePlay has finally announced that they’ll be hosting the next Dota 2 Major, called the AniMajor. The Major itself is to take place from June 2 until June 13 and will feature a $500.000 prize pool alongside distribution of 2700 DPC Points. Alongside the announcement itself WePlay Esports released a small video, showcasing the anime-style theme of the tournament.

In total 18 teams will be invited to participate at the Animajor depending on domestic results, with teams hailing from Europe, NA, SA, China, CIS and Southeast Asia. The event will start out with a round-robin between Wild Card teams before moving on to the group stage and eventually the playoff stage. Alliance and Virtus.Pro are already certain of a playoff seed right now, with Team Spirit snagging a group stage seed.

In any case, the Animajor will be a very important event for the Dota Pro Circuit of 2021, considering it’s the final one of the series before moving on to The International 10. A lot of teams who have yet to qualify for TI will be shooting their shot as a good placement can ensure their participation. More information can be found on the official WePlay website.
