Amouranth calls out gamers for taking issue with her stream

Amouranth is perhaps one of the most recognizable yet notorious broadcasters on Twitch. Most well known for her hot tub and ASMR streams, Amouranth has sparked countless new streaming ‘metas’ as well as controversies. During an interview with VICE, Kaitlyn “Amouranth” Siragusa discussed her often criticized space on the live streaming platform.

Amouranth referred to gamer’s disdain of her as ‘ironic.’ The streamer elaborated “It’s ironic that people have an issue with real women embracing their sexuality when on all the video games that these teenagers and adults play on Twitch,” Amouranth stated “There are legit women being sexualized constantly.”

The streamer spoke on the supposed duality in Twitch viewers, that find sexualized games acceptable but rejected sexuality on the streaming platform. “There are games like Dead or Alive where it’s just women in bikinis essentially trying to fight each other and balance each other’s butts at each other and that’s fine. There’s GTA that has strippers and that’s fine.”

The Twitch streamer states that while fictional women are given free range to be sexualized, actual women cannot express their sexuality in the same way. Later on in the VICE interview, Amouranth touched on the notion of retirement, something that she has continuously brought up on and off stream.

Having purchased several gas station in the past months, Amouranth’s primary source of income no longer come from her Twitch broadcast. Though the streamer has her retirement planned out, it seems that for the immediate future she will continue to stream on Twitch to her massive audience.
