It’s happened again: Indiefoxx gets banned for the sixth time this year

Twitch streamer Indiefoxx has been banned from the platform for the sixth time this year, only days after her most recent ban ran out.

It’s certainly not the first time there’s been an uproar surrounding Indiefoxx, as only recently she and other Twitch streamer Amouranth both received bans from Twitch following the ASMR meta, which saw them licking a microphone in sexually suggestive positions. Both streamers were able to return to the platform only recently, but now Indiefoxx once again finds herself banned.

This time around however it’s still unclear what the reason behind the ban is, as most of the time Twitch doesn’t share their reasoning behind the bans they issue. The most recent bans on content creators such as Indiefoxx have raised a lot of questions on the content that should be allowed on Twitch and lots of viewers have called for harsher punishments in the past.

When Twitch issues multiple bans to the same channel, it runs the risk of being permanently terminated. Chances are that if something doesn’t change, the same might happen to Indiefoxx’s channel. In any case, the discussion surrounding Twitch as a platform and the type of content that should be allowed on there keeps raging on and all these bans seemingly keep adding fuel to the fire.

After being banned from the platform by Twitch, two of the platform’s biggest streamers are now welcome again as Twitch has lifted the ban after three days.

Their bans were most likely the results of their ‘ASMR’ streams, which saw them licking a microphone in sexually suggestive positions. Twitch however hasn’t released a statement on the matter itself, as they usually don’t disclose the reasons behind their bans. Still, the breaking of Twitch policy on sexually suggestive content is most likely the leading factor behind the bans. Indiefoxx and Amouranth have already been (temporarily) banned in the past, multiple times this year even.

Twitch has come under fire multiple times over the last couple months, as different variations of the IRL streams have popped up, which also lead to the creation of the Pools, Hot Tubs and Beaches category. Many people have criticized Twitch for not enabling their policy on sexually suggestive content and have also spoken out about this type of content on the platform.

It’ll be interesting to see how this discussion and issue keep on evolving, as creators try and find new ways to explore how far they can go before they are eventually shut down or (temporarily) banned.

Amouranth and Indiefoxx have both been handed bans on Twitch this Friday, according to the StreamerBans Twitter account. It’s Amouranth’s fourth and Indiefoxx’s fifth ban.

Per Twitch guidelines, the platform has not gone into detail about why the bans were handed out, but it’s a safe bet it had something to do with the sexually suggestive streams the duo were engaged in.

Both streamers have been at the center of attention in the hot tub streaming meta recently, making the idea so popular it sparked Twitch to make a separate category.

Amouranth did not go into detail either, only tweeting she was banned while simultaneously promoting her OnlyFans. Indiefoxx tweeted at Amouranth they “had the weekend off”, which could suggest this is just a 48/72hr ban, despite this being repeat offender streamers.

Both streamers tried to find the boundaries in the ASMR category, licking their microphones to simulate ‘earlicking’. All of this was done while wearing lingerie or leggings while suggestively posing for the camera.

It seems like they found the boundary as Twitch cracked down on their content, despite being very supportive of creative expression in their last few updates on the hot tub/ASMR controversies.

Just last May, Twitch disabled advertising revenue from Amouranth’s channel after it was “flagged by the majority of advertising base”. However, Amouranth didn’t receive any notice, and this forced Twitch to later reverse its decision.
