All LEC teams are eliminated from Worlds 2021 after Damwon sweeps MAD Lions

In their first game of the Quarter-Finals, MAD Lions stood as the LEC’s lone hope standing against the goliaths in Damwon Kia. Unfortunately, MAD Lions couldn’t make the miracle happen as they fell to the defending Worlds champions. In a dominant sweep, Damwon won in convincing fashion to meet their domestic rivals in the Semi-Finals.

For MAD Lions, the road ends early. After winning two domestic titles and having an impressive run at MSI and now Worlds, MAD Lions have a lot to be proud of. Still, after three consecutive years of making Semi-Finals or better, the LEC seems to have hit a wall.

Will Damwon Kia repeat World Championships?

After their game today, it certainly seems like Damwon are in prime positioning to make another World title run. Two of out three of the games were won with over a +10K lead. Damwon’s topside in Khan and Canyon lead the charge for the LCK representatives, massively outperforming their respective opponents.

Canyon was everywhere on the map, ending the short series with a 14/4/31 scoreline while Khan averaged an incredible 719 DPM. Often thought as being the weakest point of Damwon’s lineup, the bottom lane quietly accrued one of the largest leads as well.

Now faced with T1, the Semi-Finals will be an LCK finals rematch. With a guaranteed LCK team in the Grand Finals, there is no reason that Damwon shouldn’t repeat their incredible performance.
