After much speculation: Olofmeister is leaving FaZe

One of FaZe Clan’s most experienced members, Olof “olofmeister” Kajbjer, has confirmed that he’ll be leaving FaZe following the end of the BLAST Premier Spring Group stage.

The decision doesn’t really come as a big surprise, as olofmeister has spoken about retirement and leaving FaZe in the months running up to the BLAST Premier Spring groups. On Twitter, he talked about leaving FaZe and his plans for the future, leaving the option of a possible retirement rather ambiguous. “Not the ending I wanted but we qualified and that was the most important! Time to take a step back and I’ll update you guys about my future.”

His departure certainly marks the end of an era for FaZe, as olofmeister has been a part of the organization since 2017. With him on the roster FaZe reached second place at the Boston ELEAGUE Major and some big victories, including ECS Season 4 and ESL One New York. In 2019 he helped FaZe win both the BLAST Pro Series Copenhagen and Miami.

The future of FaZe is currently up in the air, but according to reports they’ll be acquiring IGL karrigan from mousesports to complete their roster once more. As they signed Russel “Twistzz” Van Dulken earlier this year, they’ll be looking to assemble one of the strongest rosters currently out there. It’ll be up to them to prove if FaZe can be one of the top contenders, but their recent performance at the BLAST Premier Spring Group stage does provide some hope.
