Activision gives update on RICOCHET anti-cheat

With the launch of Call of Duty: Vanguard, the RICOCHET anti-cheat was deployed as well. The RICOCHET team has given a first post-launch update in the form of a blog post.

The highly anticipated Warzone update is coming soon, but RICOCHET has been live since the launch of Vanguard. According to the anti-cheat team, the first bans have started to come through already, despite Vanguard being released only a week ago.

“The RICOCHET Anti-Cheat team continues to actively monitor Call of Duty: Vanguard, issuing bans throughout launch,” the blog post reads. “Additionally, in coordination with Sledgehammer Games, #TeamRICOCHET has worked to resolve exploits related to XP earn rates and unlocks.”

The RICOCHET team re-iterates that player reporting is immensely important to help the anti-cheat to confirm cheaters and collect information about cheaters’ behavior. The blog post also adds that the team will be shifting the security enforcement policy, which should result in much harsher punishments for repeat offenders.

With the Pacific update in Warzone less than a month away, the RICOCHET team is making changes that will “result in more frequent ban waves that halt game access to cheaters and account resellers.”

“Extreme or repeated violations of the security policy – such as in-game cheating – may result in a permanent suspension of all accounts,” the post said. “Additionally, any attempt to hide, disguise or obfuscate your identity or the identity of your hardware devices may also result in a permanent suspension. Permanent suspensions for security infractions may now apply franchise-wide, including Call of Duty: Vanguard as well as any past, present, and future titles in the Call of Duty franchise.”

The Pacific update is scheduled for launch on December 3, with people who have bought Vanguard having early access 24 hours prior to launch.
