5 Tips to increase your VALORANT ranked ELO right now

VALORANT’s ranked system is a punishing, yet rewarding experience. For newbies to the game, there are plenty of mistakes that can cost you countless matches and eventually your rank. Both inside and outside of the game, there are plenty of ways you can immediately start to clean up your play. Here are some of our tips on how you can climb improve at VALORANT.

Never go in a match cold

Setting a warm-up routine is essential to your success in VALORANT. Firstly, it helps you train and refine your aim before entering a ranked match. You aim is like a muscle, it needs to be stretched and warmed up before it can be used. Secondly, it builds confidence. If you go in cold, you will likely struggle in your first few aim duels. This will inevitably put you a poor head space to continue climbing. A solid warm up will ensure that you’re going in with the best possible mindset.

Thankfully, there are plenty of ways to warm up. VALORANT offers one in form of death match. This low stakes game mode focuses only on gunplay and is perfect for warming up your aim. Another is Aim Labs, a game on its own specifically designed to train player’s aims for their given FPS.

Communicate with your team – but don’t flood

Comms are incredibly important, voice communication being the most ideal form of team work. If your team is working together and actively communicating, you are almost always in a better spot than your opponents. Comms are a fine balance though, as in a competitive game you should limit your contributions to only relevant information. ‘Flooding’ comms is a common issues even in professional games, as a stream of irrelevant information can be more detrimental than it is helpful.

Take breaks

Ranked is exhausting. Mentally and physically, you are being strained and tested by teammates and enemies alike. Going from a loss (or even a win) immediately to the next game without any break can be a death sentence for your ELO. However long or short, take a mental reset after your previous game and make sure that you are mentally fit to jump back into the fray.

Finding the right sensitivity

Sensitivity is incredible important and finding the right sensitivity often alludes players. This will likely only come through trial and error over a long period of time, as even the best pro players still consistently switch up their settings. Your best bet is to go onto a practice range and try out a wide variety of ranges on both moving and still targets. Take your time to see which feels right for your playstyle and specific mouse.

Review your gameplay

VOD reviews are one of the most useful tools professionally and casually. It gives not only time to take a mental reset after games, but also gives an outsider perspective on your gameplay. You should use VODs to review your games and take note of what you do well and poorly.
