5 Players that surprised everyone during European Masters 2021 Spring

European Masters is over and we take a look back to see which players really surprised us. Not only the players surprised us, but so did the teams attending in general.

With both the BT EXCEL and UCAM making it into the top four, one major region did not even make it out of the group phase. The Ultraliga must go back to the drawing board as they were not able to get any team out of groups. For now, let us focus on the individuals that make some of these teams stand out just that bit more. In no particular order, these are five players that had a stellar performance at the European Masters and have a bright future ahead of them.

Deadly – Botlaner from BT EXCEL

There were two botlaners from the United Kingdom in the European Masters final. Proving that not only is the United Kingdom’s playerbase still alive, also making a huge statement to some botlaners currently playing in the League of Legends European Championship (LEC). Especially Deadly stood out as one of, if not the, best botlaner currently not in the LEC. Playing on a team that overperformed in eyes of many analysts, part of their success can be tracked back to how solid Deadly played in the botlane. After playing on multiple high level European Regional League (ERL) teams, he might finally be ready to make the next step.

Targamas – Support from Karmine Corp

The only Belgian in the tournament made it all the way to the final to eventually win it all. Targamas had a brief appearance in the European League of Legends Championship Series (EU LCS) back in the day but has since then mostly been on LEC-Academy teams to improve even more. When Karmine Corp were building their roster, they specifically got Targamas and boy did he perform. Attacking every 2v2 lane in the botlane coming out ahead in most of all these fights, he has proven himself a force to be reckoned with. With his good sense for macro also come high level mechanics, making him an all-rounded strong support for which there is always high demand in the market.

Baca – Midlaner from UCAM Esports Club

UCAM had surprised everyone locally when they were considered a bottom of the pack team. After they made it into the playoffs, they were considered a bottom team in the playoffs as well. Only after winnig the LVP, they got some recognition. At the European Masters, nobody really talked about UCAM as they were considered one of the weakest number one seeds coming from a major region. However, after they made it out of their group not losing a single game until the semi-finals, they became the symbol of what European Masters is all about: developing talent.

At the core of this team is Baca, the midlaner that stood ground against all the hyped up midlaners even winning lanes he was not supposed to. He almost turned the tides against Karmine Corp in the semifinal, taking a win from them on his Orianna, but it was not meant to be in the end. Nevertheless, he left an impression for all scouts to see and all fans to witness.

Adam – Toplaner from Karmine Corp

LEC-toplaners are shaking right now as they watched Adam dominate the European stage this last week. His team secured him favorable matchups on the topside of the map and he delivered. Playing a different champion every other game for 16 games straight all the while holding the fourth best KDA amongst toplaners speaks for itself. He got seven solo kills, coming in second after his midlaner who got 8 at the event. This again shows how dominant not only Adam is, but also Karmine Corp has been throughout the tournament.

Advienne – Support from BT EXCEL

The second Benelux support player in this list and coming in second at the event falling short in the finals against Karmine Corp. Advienne has, nevertheless, shown great strengths in his laningphase playing both engaging and disengaging supports to help his botlaner. Just like Targamas, he likes to go for the 2v2 in the botlane, mostly coming out on top. He has been flying under the radar for quite some time, but now finally had gotten the chance to prove himself on the big stage and prove himself he did. It would come as no surprise if multiple teams were interested in Advienne.

Honorable mentions: Markoon, xMatty, Saken & Mersa

These were five players that stood out during the European Masters 2021 Spring. They all had a major impact on how their team performed at the event, some more obvious than others, but all crucial nonetheless. Of course, there are many other players that had extraordinary performances, but we see a bright future ahead of especially these five players.
