You can’t have a more balanced opening day than the WePlay AniMajor. Every team is in either first or fifth place, in two sets of 4-way ties.
Four teams are tied for first. Evil Geniuses, Nigma, Vici Gaming, and PSG.LGD all managed to win one best-of-2 series and tie another, all sharing the same spot with a 3-1 record.
At the bottom of the standings, we now have the four other teams, each sharing the fifth spot. Team Liquid, beastcoast, Team Spirit, and TNC all lost one series, and tied their other series.
None of the teams have a noteworthy advantage over their opponents thanks to Nigma winning their series against Spirit 2-0, which culminated into the standings as they are today. Perfectly balanced. As all things should be.
After day 2, the two bottom teams are eliminated from the Major, and as it stands TNC has the most at stake. Their opponents are Nigma, LGD, and beastcoast, and if they don’t pick up at least one series win, they’ll be most likely to be one of the teams to be sent home.
EG on the other hand seems to be in the best spot. Winning just one series against Vici, beastcoast, or Nigma should get them through to the playoffs.
The second, and last, day of groups kicks off at 5 am CT with Vici playing against EG, and LGD teaming up against Spirit.
