3 Tips to rank up fast in Apex Legends ranked play

Apex Legends is an amazing battle royale game that has seen a big increase in player numbers in the last couple of months, and more people join the ranked queues every day.

Of course, the game has its issues, but many people strongly believe it’s one of the purest forms of competition. And just like any other competitive game, there’s a ranked mode.

As a new player, it can be daunting to try and climb that ranked ladder. The higher you climb the ladder, the better you have to finish a game to keep moving forward.

If you’re serious about trying to improve in ranked play, here are three tips that might help you.

Find a squad

Solo queue is hard in any game. In Apex Legends you’ll never win a game by playing alone unless you’re a pro player. Even those tend to only solo into regular lobbies, and find teammates for their ranked sessions. Eliminating random teammates increases teamplay lowers solo plays, and perhaps most importantly, causes way less stress. It will also help with tip 2.

Know when to fight

In Apex, you get points for kills and assists with an upper limit of 6. Anything over that won’t get you extra points. At that point, your placement score becomes more important than leaping into another fight. The longer you stay in the game, the higher the points get for your kills. Die early and every kill/assist is worth 10 RP, win the game and they’re worth 25RP.

Watch the pros

I get it. You’re not a pro. They are. It’s still a good idea to take some time to watch an actual pro player. As far as I know, Apex pros are the only professional players who stream their scrimmages and tournament play as a POV. You will learn a ton about team composition, rotations, lootpaths (the path you take when you first land, to optimize the loot you’ll find), callouts,… It will exponentially increase your knowledge of the game.
