2022 LCS Mid-Season Showdown to feature live audience

Much like other esports titles around the world, the LCS has not allowed live audiences in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. While they’ve returned to LAN before, an audience has been absent. Now it seems like the audience will be returning at last, with Riot Games announcing that the LCS Mid-Season Showdown of 2022 will be played in Houston, Texas with a live audience present.

It was the new commissioner of the LCS, Jacky “Jack” Felling, who confirmed that Riot is going ahead with a LAN event with an audience. “This event is happening and we’re excited to announce tickets and other details in the coming weeks. As you can imagine COVID / pandemic makes event planning much more complicated and we are pushing to get out details ASAP. We’re pumped to finally be in Texas and appreciate everyone understanding as we work through these last little details to get the tickets out soon.”

Aside from the audience at the Mid-Season Showdown, ‘Jack’ also discussed the possibility of audiences returning to the LCS studio, where they’ve also been absent for almost 2 years now. “We will be announcing fans back in the LCS studio soon, but are still working through some things. Trust me, we all here at LCS really want fans back as soon as possible. It shouldn’t be much longer now.”
