Last Weekend Moqii Zoldyck became the first female professional to win an European qualifier in the Fortnice Champion Series (FNCS).
Gen.G’s Moqii Zoldyck took three Victory Royale’s out of seven solo matches to clinch the top spot in the European FNCS qualifiers. Moqii also averaged six eliminations per game, showing her willingness to take and win firefights.
European exclamation mark for female pros
With constant high placements (26,6) Moqii secured the top spot leading by just a single point (94 to 93). She also qualified for the European Grand Finals.
Moqii’s victory marks the first time a female player has won a solo event of the FNCS. Even stablished players like FaZe Clan’s Kyle “Mongraal” Jackson were no match for her as Twitch Esports and others congratulated her achievement.
For the second FNCS qualifiers in Fortnite’s Chapter 2 Season 3 was won by favorite Benjy “benjyfishy” Fish. The British pro took home the victory with 58 points in six matches to build upon his numerous Solo Cash Cup victories in the past.
Massive prize pools in the FNCS
The 50 best players of each qualifier are invited to the Season Finals from August 14 to August 16. With $475,000 up for grabs the champion will secure an impressive $80,000, a prize that Moqii will surely be eyeing next.
Struggling against prejudice
Women in esports often struggle against widespread prejudice from the community and sexist behavior. Just because they are female, they are accused of being “unable to compete” or “being worse”.

But Moqii’s triumph has shown once more that prejudice deserves no place in esports. Her FNCS vicotory is now part of a long line of successes that women have achieved in Fortnite. Canadian Kristen “KittyPlays” Michaela won the charity event “Fortnite Korea Open” together with Duo partner Turner “Tfue” Trenney in December 2018. Another remarkable victory that springs to mind is Tina “Tinaraes” Parez’ championship during Twitch Rivals’ Trio competition which net her and her teammates a nice $100,000.
