Call of Duty Warzone is, at this point, notorious for its hacker problem. A large majority of players have competed in lobbies with at least one other person using cheats. The most common cheats have spanned from an classic aim-bot to invisibility glitches. No matter the cheat, the systemic problem of hackers has massively hindered Warzone’s playerbase and development.
Activision and Raven Softwares have shown no issue in conducting massive waves of bans however to combat this issue. Prior to this, in May Activision banned over 500,000 accounts for both racist and offensive names as well as cheating activities. Reported prior, Activision banned up to 50,000 accounts in a single day. This may only ramp up, as Call of Duty issued a warning to hackers via twitter.
The official CoD Twitter account stated “A warning to cheaters: our new PC anti-cheat is coming and we’re dedicated to rooting out active and repeat offenders.” Both the Call of Duty account and Raven Softwares revealed that they had already banned 100,000 account for cheating via this new anti-cheat software. This new approach seems to be effective so far, as Activision has now directly addressed their hacker problem and taken the first steps to remedying a solution.
These new efforts come ahead of the newest addition to the franchise, Call of Duty: Vanguard. It is expected that this new anti-cheat will be used in Vanguard, as it has been announced that Warzone will get a ‘big’ update which follows in with the future game’s World War II themes.
