100 Thieves to start entire Academy roster for last regular season LCS game

100 Thieves will field their entire Academy roster for their final LCS Summer Split regular game against Evil Geniuses.

The organization is locked into second place, and none of the trio of Cloud9, Evil Geniuses, and Team Liquid can overtake them going into the final game.

This puts 100T in a special situation where it can rest all of the starting line-up and give the Academy roster a spot at the highest level. The Academy team has been one of the top contenders in their respective league, and now gets awarded by the organization.

Only Philippe “Poome” Lavoie-Giguere and mid laner Tommy “ry0ma” Le have had LCS experience, while the other three players will debut on the big stage.

The decision by 100T has been met with some scrutiny. Quite a few people feel this is giving an unfair advantage to 100T’s opponent Evil Geniuses, who are still in that top 3 race. Cloud9 in particular is named as the “victim” because they’ll have to compete with a fully-fledged LCS roster in their final regular season game.

Despite fielding the Academy roster, one might argue that with the talent and experience on the roster, 100T could still make the game against Evil Geniuses very competitive, despite obviously lacking in the star power department.

100T Academy ended third in both the Summer Split and the Spring Proving Grounds. Most of the players on the Academy team were fostered in the 100 Thieves Next team, the amateur leg of the 100T League of Legends infrastructure, perfectly in line with the 100 Thieves approach.
