100 Thieves releases Steel from its VALORANT roster

100 Thieves announced on Twitter that the esports organization have released Joshua “Steel” Nissan from its VALORANT roster. The team thanked Steel for his contributions to the team for the last year and wished him luck moving forward.

As IGL for 100 Thieves, Steel largely lead the North American squad through its first year in the VCT circuit. With 100 Thieves, Steel most notably contributed to the team’s tournament win at First Strike and their run at Masters Berlin. The squad had an unfortunate end to the year as 100 Thieves were eliminated from the Last Chance Qualifier by Cloud9.

100 Thieves is expectedly to reorganize its VALORANT roster ahead of the 2022 season further. Nitr0 is currently expected to return to CS:GO with his old team, Team Liquid, leaving another gap in the organization’s VALORANT roster. The player that filled in for 100 Thieves during the Last Chance Qualifier, b0i is not expected to continue with the roster as well. There has been no confirmed information regarding Hiko, Asuna, and Ethan and whether or not the trio will remain with the team.

Steel himself is rumored to join the new and growing T1 roster. Though the organization who first joined VALORANT, T1 have found only middling results in the VCT era of VALORANT. The team has already brought Thwifo to fill in the expected loss of Autimatic. While the roster is far from set, it seems that Steel will quickly find a home on a new roster for the 2022 season.
