100 Thieves enter CDL and reveal L.A. Thieves

After a lot of speculation by fans, Matthew “Nadeshot” Haag and 100 Thieves have announced that they’ll be entering the Call of Duty League. 100 Thieves will acquire the CDL slot of Immortals Gaming and will rebrand it to L.A. Thieves to compete in the upcoming season.

Immortals Gaming was selling their slot in which they had OpTic Gaming compete. The price for the CDL slot has not been revealed, but a spot in the CDL originally went for around 25 million dollars, which supposedly was one the reasons 100 Thieves decided not to enter the CDL in its inaugural season. With the L.A. Thieves project, 100 Thieves revealed entirely new branding and merch for the CDL team.

After announcing the news, CEO Matt “Nadeshot” Haag and 100 Thieves president John Robinson talked at length about their decision in a YouTube video and on Twitter. Robinson talked about why buying into the CDL was the right business move. “Based on the strength of the league, our amazing sponsors at 100T, and Activision allowing teams to be entrepreneurial with their franchises, we expect strong financial performance from our CDL business.”

Aside from entering the CDL as L.A. Thieves they’ll also be working towards a team for Warzone, Nadeshot says. “We really believe in Warzone. We believe in the future of the gamemode and the competitive scene around it. There are some truly special players that created such large communities that are so engaged. We want to build one of the greatest Warzone teams.” It’s believed more information about their Warzone team will be released in the upcoming weeks.
