10 Tips to place higher in Warzone

It is not an easy task to be a good Warzone player. Here are ten tips to place at the top of the lobby.

1. Play aggressive

If you play more, you automatically improve faster. While this statement is not entirely wrong, you can use your time more efficiently if you actively search out fights. A round you win by lingering around the edge of the zone before taking two kill in the final clash, does not help you as much as a round where you only finish as 30th but with 10 kills.

You will only learn how to fight smarter and put opponents under pressure, if you consistently search for gunfights. Obviously this playstyle will lead to more deaths, but you not only improve faster but also have more interesting rounds and better gear in the lategame after winning fights earlier.

2. Utilize your map properly

This tip goes hand in hand with the first one. You generally find opponents faster, if you regularily look at your map and mark their positions. If you hear shots, your map will show the shooter as red dot. So make sure to open the map quickly and mark the position, if you are not in a fight yourself. That also makes it harder to get surprised from behind.

As the game progresses your opponents will get access to silencers or the Ghost perk to hide their location on the map. So make sure to not only use the map to find opponents, also listen to sound cues around you.

3. Complete Contracts

Especially if you drop into Warzone solo it might take a while until you have enough money for a Loadout Drop. You can shorten that time significantly if you complete contracts. The easiest ones to do are the Scavenger Contracts identified by the magnifying glass.

The most lucrative contract type is Bounty. A Bounty Contract will reveal the rough location of your opponent and offers lots of rewards. Of course your target can realize that he is being hunted when you approach and prepare himself. It is important to be fast on Bounty Contract to find out where your opponent might be hiding.

Contracts are also a great way to gather XP to level your weapons faster.

4. Drones!

Once you have made a couple of kills and completed some contracts you will easily have more money than you can spend. Use the excess cash to keep buying Drones. Even in the lategame there will be players without the Ghost perk that you can discover that way.

If you are playing in a team you can also use your drones at the same time to not only get the exact position of your opponent but also see where they are facing. But that gets expensive quite fast, so make sure you have enough cash before or just use the drones in succession.

5. Clear communication and pings

If you are playing with more than two players, things can quickly turn chaotic. Make sure you know which color is which player and communicate clearly. “Two at Orange!” is a much better callout than “Enemies at the spot I pinged”.

Also try to keep your teammates’ communication in mind even in stressful situation. Nothing is more frustrating than getting surprised by an opponent, whose location and loadout was called out earlier.

6.Use all the loot you can find

Warzone often gives you more equipment than you think. Things such as landmines or field upgrades often get left in the dust, although they are quite beneficial. If you are using a vehicle to quickly traverse the map a Trophy system can help protect you from grenades and C4.

A well placed Claymore or Bouncing Betty can also take out opponents without armor and net you a kill without much investment. Just pick those things up and place them in an area that gets frequented often.

7. Use the zone to your advantage

Especially newer players tend to drop at the edge of the map. Usually fewer opponents land there and you can quickly gain your footing. But the problem is that the gas forces you quickly to move across the map.

It is much better to be in the zone early on and linger at the edge of the safe zone. You can easily pick off opponents trying to get to safety if you choose a secure position. While your drop and landing will be more difficult with many opponents landing in the same area, you earn a good advantage later on.

8. Get to know your weapon

The meta of the weapons in Warzone keeps changing, but before you can jump to the flavor of the month, you need to know how to play these weapons and unlock their attachments. Make sure to be familiar with your loadout. You can use the Plunder and Rebirth modes to train with them as deaths there are not as punishing as in the main mode.

9. Don’t sneak too much

The element of surprise is important in firefights, but in many situation it is better to act fast instead of sneaking around. Especially if you get spotted your stealth becomes useless.

Even if you suspect someone waiting on the other side of the door it is better to open it quickly. If you try to sneak up to it carefully, your opponent will always have an advantage. But with fast movement you stand a much better chance of dodging the first bullets.

10. Choose the correct perks

Some perks have changed significantly during Warzone. Many have been adjusted over time. Make sure you update your loadout to actually have the strongest perks equipped.

Using our ten tips should quickly help you improve in Warzone. Don’t be afraid to lose a round. The more mistakes you make, the quicker you can learn from those.
