The first official Hearthstone Cosplay Contest

By Nikola Petrov Hearthstone 16 May 2018 499 views

Blizzard has just announced the first officially supported Cosplay competition. The winner gets a ticket to Gamescom and a powerful artefact weapon.

Cosplay culture has always walked hand-in-hand with gaming, and its prominence has been on the rise for the past decade.

Blizzard has always been supportive of their fans’ creations, featuring them in events such as BlizzCon or the recent Overwatch Payload Tour.

Now, for the first time, the company is running a Hearthstone-specific cosplay event. The competition will take place online, through submissions straight from the cosplayers. The ultimate winner will be featured in Blizzard’s booth at Gamescom 2018 in Cologne, Germany. In addition, they will get a hold of a replica of the legendary staff Aluneth, Greatstaff of the Magna.

The rules for entry are fairly simple.

Candidates are to submit a picture of their finished costume via email between 12:00 CET on 15 May and 23:56 CET on 27 July. They also need to provide some basic information such as the name of the card they are recreating, their own name and some contact information.

The cosplay entries must be artistic re-creations of particular Hearthstone cards. While personal interpretation and imagination are encouraged, contesters can’t cosplay non-card concepts. So, sadly, we won’t be seeing any ‘One Turn Kills’, or ‘Piece of bread in disguise’, at least as part of the competition.

The complete contest rules are available here. Good luck!
