Germany’s biggest Dota 2 event will be making a return this October as ESL have announced their next tournament which will take place in Hamburg. The group stage matches will be from 23 to 25 October, while the main event in Barclaycard Arena will be from 26 to 28 October.
Senior Vice President of Product at ESL, Ulrich Schulze noted: ‘We are looking forward to bringing ESL One back to Hamburg after such a successful debut of our flagship event series last year’
The annual contest will feature double the teams from the last one, making a total of 16 this time. Days in the arena are also increased from two to three when compared to previous years. Thanks to ESL making a cooperation with HVV, all attendees will be able to use public transportation to the arena and back for free. Tickets ranging from € 39 all the way to € 2999 will go on sale in the upcoming days on 7 May, so if you plan on visiting, better get them early.
And of course, what’s an ESL One event without a cosplay competition. This October the prize will be € 3000 distributed between the top 10 displays. If you’re planning to suit up, check the rules and register.
So far, it’s unclear if the event will be part of the new 2018-2019 DPC, but it most likely will provide DPC points along with the prize that’s not yet officially known. There’s also a slight chance it won’t be the opening tournament for the next season and another Major will precede it.
