Doomfist and Orisa buffed in the PTR

By Nikola Petrov Overwatch 13 Jun 2018 211 views

The latest patch in the PTR server brought changes to two other characters, alongside the big Symmetra rework.

Both Doomfist and Orisa got buffed to help them solidify their place in the new Brigitte metagame. Doomfist is a very undervalued hero and one that Overwatch League casters predicted to come back in fashion because of his niche uses that could greatly benefit team compositions. Now with the increase of his strength, this is all the more likely to happen.

Meteor Strike

Bonus movement speed increased from 150% to 200%

The Best Defense…

Shield gain increased from 30 to 35 for normal abilities

Developer Comments: The increased movement speed on Meteor Strike gives Doomfist new options in how and where to deploy it. His passive is also being increased, allowing him to survive more often when diving into enemies.

The movement bonus increase is great. Not only improves Doomfist on his own, but also creates potential synergy with Symmetra’s new portals for potential sneaky plays that can get an unsuspecting sniper off guard. We hope to see Dallas Fusion’s Taimou utilizing strategies like these.

Ultimate cost reduced by 15%

A single line of text can change a lot. Orisa has her uses in the Overwatch League already, and now players have even better reason to pick her. She is also a mainstay outside of the professional scene and we will hopefully see her even more after the patch hits the live servers.

Of course, these changes are not 100% final and things have the potential to move a bit based on the community’s feedback.
