Hearthstone Global Games returns for another run and card swingers from across the world are given the chance to vote for their country’s representatives.
After the success of last year’s world competition, Blizzard announced the return of the format for another go. The rules are somewhat different from what we’re used to.
The player with the most competitive points from each of the 48 participating countries in declared Anchor and gets a guaranteed spot in their team. The other three members are listed on the Hearthstone website for the fans to pick.
The tournament is an online Round Robin in the Standard format. The team consists of the four representatives who need to submit a total of nine decks – two per player, plus one for the “ace” player – this one is used for tiebreaks.
The complete rules are available in this document.
Everyone with a Battle.net account can vote for their country here.
Players who cast their vote will also be rewarded with a Witchwood card pack.
Last year’s event was intense and gave away more than $300,000 in prizes. The ultimate winner was the Check Republic, followed by Ukraine, South Korea and the United States.
