STARLADDER IMBATV INVITATIONAL SEASON 5 STARTS TODAY

By Tasho Tashev Dota 2 12 Apr 2018 286 views

It’s almost time for the last StarLadder i-League event for the 2017-2018 season. Today' the first day of the tournament and there were already complications, which have forced roster changes and even prevented entire teams from attending the event.

Zeng ‘Faith’ Hongda’s passport expired, which caused Newbee to withdraw from the tournament and VGJ.Thunder will be playing in their spot. Emilano c4t’ Ito will be replacing Lucas Raphael Ferreira bardo Barbosa in SG e-sports’ line up for personal reasons. LGD Gaming chose not to attend in order to prepare for other events. Under ‘other events’ we should probably read EPICENTER XL. LGD were replaced by Vega Squadron. And finally, Fnatic will be playing without Johan ‘pieliedie’ Åström, standing in for him will be Adam Erwann Shah 343’ bin Akhtar Hussein, who’s also currently coaching the same team. In an official post, Fnatic mentioned they’re doing this to improve team cohesion. If we take a look at the last two teams that played with coaches, OG and Team Liquid, things didn’t end too well for them, but maybe the SEA squad will show better coordination.

While some may consider Fnatic or Optic Gaming to be the favourites for the event, I personally love an underdog story and we just might get one with FlyToMoon participating here. The DPC points here won’t make too much of a difference in the overall team ranking for The International, so you could say focus will be on the prize and prestige. The tournament starts 11 April and will last until Sunday 15 April, don’t miss the broadcast on Twitch.
