Chess.com and Twitch.tv will gather the world’s best chess players to participate at the finals of the Professional Rapid Online (PRO) Chess League on 7 April at Folsom Street Foundry, San Francisco.

Contenders from all over the world will vie for the title of the best online chess player. The event will pit 32 teams, with noteworthy players such as Magnus Carlson from Norway Gnomes and the former world champion Vishy Anand leading the Mumbai Movers.

According to Twitch director of eSports programs Justin Dellario, the collaboration between Chess.com and the streaming channel will help fans garner a fresh look on the sport. Dellario also noted that this would be the first time when chess would be presented in a way that is ‘commonly associated with eSports tournaments.’
