ELEAGUE is expanding its offer with the addition of a brand-new series called ELEAGUE The Challenger Street Fighter V, which US TV channel TBS will televise. The event will debut on Friday, 20 April and footage from the competition will be broadcast every Friday thereafter. Winners will gain an entry to the major Street Fighter Invitational, which kicks off 1 June. With a respectable prize pool of $250,000, ELEAGUE will drive interest in both the game and its competitive scene.

In an official announcement, the trio of companies including ELEAGUE, Turner and IMG eSports brand, have stated their intention to pool their efforts and launch the Challenger series, which will be the first televised Street Fighter V reality show these organisers have carried out together.

The shift towards reality eSports may offer an opportunity for ELEAGUE and TBS to explore new markets. ESports may surpass traditional sports by viewership in the near future. Still, the project remains a pilot initiative, which offers an easy-to-follow action for spectators involved. If successful, more reality shows may be aired in the future.
