Clash Royale publisher and developer Supercell has announced that it is adding 36 electronic sports powerhouses to participate in a namesake eSports league with a prize pool of $1 million. A multitude of established names in competitive video gaming has agreed to join. All eSports organisations will have to form their rosters and field their teams in the time to the finals. All participating teams may freely pick players as they advance in the competition.

Clash Royale is a mobile title that has been gaining popularity around the world with 27 million active players today. The Clash Royale League will conclude in winter. However, this is not a regular eSports league. Much like Esports Mogul, Supercell is looking to bridge the gap between professional players and fans.

Clash Royale goes even further and nearly 25 million players have signed up for the event, with 7,000 progressing to the second round already. Some of the most noteworthy additions to the league include Cloud9, Team SoloMid, Team Dignitas, Immortals, and others.

According to Supercell Tim Ebner, the level of enthusiasm and grassroots involvement has been quite inspiring. Otherwise, the league is similar to other currently operating. The Royal Clash League will feature two seasons. In the Spring leg of the competition, Chinese and Asian players will try to make it to the final stages whereas the rest of the world battle it out in the Fall event.

The interest in the league so far may change not only eSports patterns but also offer a significant leg-up to the world of mobile games played competitively and professionally. By bringing distinguished powerhouses to the action, Clash Royale stands to propel its game as a genuine eSports title.
