The long-anticipated Madness Qualifier for this year’s Epicenter XL event is finally set and done and we had some interesting twists. While the event itself caused complications in other tournaments, Madness went smoothly, at least for some participants. Among the more notable teams at the event, we saw EG, Vega Squadron, Mad Lads, The Final Tribe, Alliance, Gambit Esports, Effect, Immortals, Kinguin and others. Interestingly enough, it wasn’t one of these teams that made it to the bitter end. Vega Squadron eliminated EG and TFT, but the real stars of the qualifier had to be none other than FlyToMoon.

If you haven’t heard of them, there’s no shame in it. The team was created just about two months ago, on 5 February 2018. For a squad that fresh they’ve already had some impressive victories. At the Epicenter XL CIS Qualifier, they lost the finals to Team Empire, but managed to a secure a spot thanks to the Madness Qualifier by beating Team Kinguin. Even though they won’t make it to the Changsha Major due to a loss versus Vega Squadron, they’ve already had their revenge against them yesterday in the Starladder CIS Qualifier Finals.

As you can probably tell, this team isn’t just a random stack that got lucky. All the players in it have been in the pro scene for a long time and the experience they’ve gained is clear. The current roster consists of:

Airat ‘Silent’ Gaziev

Bogdan ‘Iceberg’ Vasilenko

Alexey ‘nongrata’ Vasilev

Alexander ‘NoFear’ Churochkin

Andrey ‘ALWAYSWANNAFLY’ Bondarenko

Interestingly enough, all of them have played in Team Empire at some point during their careers and have met or played against each other in multiple other teams from the CIS region. They show great potential so far and we can expect to see more of them during the EPICENTER XL main event and StarLadder ImbaTV Invitational Season 5 next month.
