Developers and fans will celebrate 20 years of the ground-breaking RTS with a big stream full of games and famous personalities.
The original StarCraft was released 31 March 1998 and changed eSports history. To pay tribute to the influential RTS, Blizzard ran a series of celebrations across its games, rewarding players with thematic loot. The festivities will conclude with a big streaming event, combining games, storytelling, and fun.
The hosts are some of the most recognisable faces in the StarCraft world – shoutcasters by Sean ‘Day’ Plott, Geoff ‘iNcontroL’ Robinson, Nick ‘Tasteless’ Plott, and Dan ‘Artosis’ Stemkoski (last two commonly referred to as ‘Tastosis’).
When it comes to gameplay, pretty much all modes will be covered – from team games to free-for-alls and from 1v1 to 2v2v2v2.
Some special guests are invited to join the hosts as well. These are legendary players, who left a permanent mark on its community. Commanders such as Idra, HuK, Livibee, Ret, TLO, Nony, Lzgamer, PiG, White-Ra, and UpaTreeZelda.
The steam starts this Friday, 30 March at 10:00 a.m. PDT on the official StarCraft Twitch channel with a friendly free-for-all. From there, the celebration will proceed for the rest of the day until 6:00 p.m. PDT. On 31 March, the show will resume at 10 a.m. PDT and run throughout the day.
The whole affair seems fitting for an important game such as this one. We, like many others, will be there watching. Looks like we’re in for a ride!
