The NBA 2K League, one of the handful of professional offshoots from mainstream sporting organisations, has announced that it is adding Scuf Gaming as the official controller sponsor for the entire competition.

As a result, every participant will use a custom Scuf controller for the purposes of the tournament.

NBA 2K League managing director Brendan Donohue had this to say:

‘Scuf Gaming’s handcrafted controllers are fully customizable and will allow our players to personalize key areas of design and function to match their styles.’

The NBA 2K League has not only been seeking additional marketing opportunities for itself. The league was founded as a fully-fledged eSports organisation, including competitive salaries for the players themselves.

Donohue has also spoken about eSports and the league itself as ‘part of the family,’ and addressed issues such as the underrepresentation of women in professional video gaming.

The partnership with Scuf may be the latest, but it is just the tip of the iceberg. The league is now also an official partner with Twitch, following the signing of a multi-year deal.
