DAC 2018 KICKS OFF TODAY

By Tasho Tashev Dota 2 29 Mar 2018 190 views

Perhaps the most notable event after The International, the Dota 2 Asia Championship, is finally upon us. This year’s host is none other than Paul ‘Redeye’ Chaloner, a living legend in the casting scene, with whom we’ll be able to enjoy some top-quality gameplay by teams gathered from all over the world. Along with Redeye, the rest of the casters are all faces you’ve known through the years, who have proven their top-notch analysis and knowledge of the game on multiple occasions.

The tournament will last more than a week in Shanghai, starting today, up until 7 April 2018, rocking a prize pool of $1 million and 1,500 Dota Pro Circuit points. Virtus.pro, Team Liquid and Team Secret have already scored their first victories and look like solid contenders for the top spot, but we might be in for a surprise. The group stage is played as a Bo1 and you either win or go home. So, who’ll be the first teams to be eliminated and will the Chinese manage to defend their title from last year? We’ll find out the answers to these and many more questions in the upcoming week.

Besides the main event, DAC holds the annual one-vs-one tournament and an all-star match. The bracket for the one versus one has already been revealed and as usual, the midlane players of every team are there to test their skills and show us who’s the best. The fight for the number one spot here will be tough as it’s all individual skill and no teamplay. The wet dream of fanatical pub players come true, where you can’t blame anyone else but yourself. On the other hand, the all-star match will allow two players to draft a team from the other eight. In this game, captains will be Amer ‘Miracle-‘ Al-Barkawi and Liu Sylar Jiajun. So, will it be China versus the West or will the teams be based on skill and role composition. Either way it looks like it’ll be an interesting match.

Make sure not to miss the rest of the games set for today and check out the available streams.
